Capsules Mezym 25000 capsules are indicated for disorders of the exocrine function of the pancreas, accompanied by digestive disorders.

Composition

Active substance: powder from the pancreas (pigs);

MEZYM CAPSULES 10,000: 1 hard capsule contains powder from the pancreas (porcine) 153.5 (98.3 – 178.6) mg, which has a minimum lipolytic activity of 10,000 units of EF (units of the European Pharmacopoeia), a minimum amylolytic activity of 9,000 units of EF, minimum proteolytic activity of 500 units of EF;

MEZYM CAPSULES 25,000: 1 hard capsule contains powder from the pancreas (porcine) 356.1 (245.6 – 446.6) mg, which has a minimal lipolytic activity of 25,000 UF, a minimal amylolytic activity of 22,500 UF, a minimal proteolytic activity of 1,250 UF EF;

Contraindication

• Hypersensitivity to the active substance, pork meat (allergy to pork) or any of the excipients of the drug.
• Acute pancreatitis or chronic pancreatitis in the exacerbation stage. However, if indigestion persists, episodic administration of the drug is advisable in the phase of subsiding aggravation when expanding the diet.

Method of application

The dosage of the drug is determined individually for each patient depending on the degree of indigestion and the composition of food. For individual selection of the dose, there are two types of dosage of the drug – MEZYM CAPSULES 10,000 and MEZYM CAPSULES 25,000.

Capsules should be swallowed whole, drinking plenty of liquid, preferably during meals, as the effectiveness of the medicine MEZYM CAPSULES may decrease when chewed, and the enzymes contained in the drug, when released in the oral cavity, may damage its mucous membrane.

For ease of use (for example, children, elderly patients), hard capsules can be opened and swallowed only with a small amount of liquid.

Overdose

The use of very high doses of pancreatic enzymes, in particular in patients with cystic fibrosis, may be accompanied by hyperuricosuria and hyperuricemia.

Side effects

Gastrointestinal tract.

Very rarely: abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, vomiting. Patients with cystic fibrosis may develop constrictions in the ileocecal region and in the ascending part of the colon when high doses of powder from the pancreas are used.

From the genitourinary system.

Unknown: in patients with cystic fibrosis, increased excretion of uric acid with urine is possible, especially when using high doses of powder from the pancreas, therefore, in order to avoid the formation of uric acid stones in such patients, its content in urine should be controlled.

From the side of the immune system.

Very rarely: allergic reactions of the immediate type (such as skin rash, urticaria, sneezing, lacrimation, bronchospasm, shortness of breath), hypersensitivity reactions with localization in the gastrointestinal tract.

Interaction

Folic acid. When using preparations containing powder from the pancreas, the absorption of folic acid may decrease, which may require its additional intake into the body.

Acarbose, miglitol. The hypoglycemic effect of oral antidiabetic drugs acarbose and miglitol may decrease with simultaneous use of MEZYM CAPSULES.

Storage conditions

Store the medicine in a place inaccessible to children.

Shelf life – 2 years. After dissection of the bank – 6 months.
