Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics. the basis of the drug is a high-molecular hydrophilic polymer, the pH and osmolality of which are similar to those of a normal tear film. due to its physical properties, the eye gel retains water and forms a transparent and moist film on the surface of the eye.

Pharmacokinetics. In pharmacokinetic studies, radioactive carbomer was administered to rats. Research results have shown that only a small amount of Carbomer is absorbed. After a single administration, it was found that 0.75% of the dose is released during breathing in the form of carbon dioxide and 0.63% is released with urine. The main mass of Carbomer (92%) is excreted with feces within 24 hours after application. Given the macromolecular nature of Carbomer, it can be assumed that it is excreted from the body without undergoing metabolic transformations, that is, it does not undergo a hepatic cycle.

The maximum time Carbomer stays on the surface of the eye is about 90 minutes.

Indication

Replacement therapy for reduced secretion of tear fluid, treatment of “dry eye” syndrome, symptomatic therapy of keratoconjunctivitis sicca.

Application

Treatment of dry eye syndrome requires an individual dosage regimen. depending on the severity and severity of the symptoms, it is recommended to instill 1 drop of the gel into the conjunctival sac of the eye 3-5 times a day or more often, as well as approximately 30 minutes before bedtime.

When using Vidisic for the treatment of keratoconjunctivitis sicca, you should consult an ophthalmologist, as this disease usually requires long-term or continuous treatment.

Contraindication

Hypersensitivity to any of the components of the drug.

Side effects

Immediately after administration of the drug, temporary blurring of vision may occur.

In rare cases, reactions of increased sensitivity to some components of the drug, pain in the eyes may be observed.

Vidisic contains the preservative cetrimide, which can cause eye irritation, especially with frequent or long-term use (burning, redness, feeling of a foreign body in the eye, tingling) and damage to the corneal epithelium. Therefore, for the treatment of the chronic form of keratoconjunctivitis sicca, preparations that do not contain preservatives should be used.

Special instructions

The period of pregnancy and breastfeeding. there are no clinical data on the safety of the use of Vidisic during pregnancy and breastfeeding. during the preclinical study, it was established that the risk of using Vidisic during this period is very low. use during pregnancy and breastfeeding is possible only on the recommendation of a doctor, if the expected benefit of treatment with the drug exceeds the potential risk.

Children. There are no data on the use of the drug for the treatment of children, so Vidisic is not recommended for use in pediatric practice.

The ability to influence the speed of reaction when driving vehicles or working with mechanisms. Within a few minutes after instillation of Vidisic in the conjunctival sac, blurred vision may be observed, therefore it is recommended to refrain from driving vehicles and working with mechanisms until the clarity of vision is restored.

Interactions

Unknown Vidisic can prolong the contact time of other ophthalmic drugs with the mucous membrane of the eyes. with the simultaneous use of Vidisic with other ophthalmic drops, the drugs should be used with an interval of at least 5 minutes, with ointments – 15 minutes. in any case, Vidisic should be buried last.
