Composition

Active ingredient: clotrimazole;

1 tablet contains clotrimazole 100 mg;

Excipients: corn starch, lactose, povidone (K-30), magnesium stearate, colloidal silicon dioxide, sodium starch (type A).

Contraindication

Hypersensitivity to clotrimazole or other components of the drug.

Method of application

1 vaginal tablet is used in the evening. The course of treatment with vaginal tablets of 100 mg is 6 days.

Clotrimazole should be used by children over 12 years of age after consulting a doctor.

Vaginal tablets should be inserted into the vagina as deeply as possible, in the evening, it is more convenient to insert lying on the back with slightly bent legs, using the applicator. Clotrimazole should be used without an applicator for children over 12 years of age.

Clotrimazole, vaginal tablets must dissolve completely in the vagina, otherwise undissolved pieces of the tablet may fall out of the vagina. To prevent this, it is important to inject the medicine into the vagina as deeply as possible before going to bed. If the vaginal tablets do not dissolve completely within one night, you should consider the possibility of using other dosage forms.

Overdose

There is no risk of acute intoxication, as it is unlikely that an overdose is possible after a single vaginal dose or application to the skin (application to large areas of the skin under conditions that promote increased absorption), as well as after accidental oral use. There is no specific antidote.

Side effects

  • From the side of the immune system: allergic reactions, including loss of consciousness, arterial hypotension, shortness of breath, urticaria.
  • From the reproductive system and mammary glands: peeling of the skin in the genital area, itching, rash, edema, erythema, discomfort, burning, irritation, pelvic pain, vaginal bleeding.
  • From the gastrointestinal tract: abdominal pain.

Interaction

With oral tacrolimus (FK-506; immunosuppressants) – an increase in the level of the latter in the blood plasma in the case of simultaneous use with clotrimazole, the patient’s condition should be carefully monitored to detect symptoms of tacrolimus overdose, if necessary, by checking its level in the blood plasma.

With nystatin – a decrease in the activity of clotrimazole;

With amphotericin B and other polyene antibiotics – a decrease in the activity of the latter.

The simultaneous use of clotrimazole with latex contraceptives may damage the latter, so the effectiveness of these contraceptives may decrease. Patients are advised to use alternative methods of contraception for at least 5 days after using this medicinal product.

Storage conditions

Store in the original packaging in a place inaccessible to children at a temperature not higher than 30 °C.
