“Edermik” gel is used for the following indications: itching of the skin, for example, due to insect bites, non-extensive solar erythema, uncomplicated small skin burns and allergic irritations of small areas of the skin.
Composition
The active substance is dimethindene maleate (1 g of gel contains 1 mg of dimethindene maleate).
Excipients: disodium edetate, carbomer, benzalkonium chloride, propylene glycol, sodium hydroxide 30% solution, purified water.
Contraindication
Increased sensitivity to the components of the drug.
Method of application
For children under 2 years of age, the drug can be used only as prescribed by a doctor. Babies and young children should not use the drug on large areas of skin, especially on damaged or inflamed skin.
Adults and children over 2 years of age should apply the gel to the affected areas of the skin 2-4 times a day. If the patient’s condition does not improve after 7 days of using the drug, it is necessary to consult a doctor.
In case of very strong itching or damage to a large area, in addition to local application of the drug, oral forms of the drug (“Edermik”, oral drops) should also be used.

There are no clinical data on the use of the drug in pregnant women. During pregnancy, it is not recommended to use “Edermik” unless the benefit of use exceeds the potential risk to the fetus. In this case, the drug can only be used as prescribed by a doctor.
It is not recommended to apply “Edermik” to small areas of skin, especially to damaged or inflamed skin. The same applies to women who are breastfeeding. In addition, breastfeeding women should not apply the gel to the nipples of the mammary glands.

Some symptoms characteristic of an overdose of H1 -antihistamines for systemic use may be observed: depression of the central nervous system, accompanied by drowsiness (mainly in adults), stimulation of the central nervous system and antimuscarinic effect (especially in children and the elderly), including disorders , ataxia, hallucinations, tonic-clonic convulsions, mydriasis, dry mouth, facial hyperemia, urination disorders, fever, arterial hypotension is also possible.
In case of overdose, it is necessary to take measures recommended by the medical institution in accordance with the symptoms that arise.
Side effects
The most frequent side effects are minor and short-term skin reactions at the application site. The drug contains benzalkonium chloride and propylene glycol, which can cause skin irritation.
