Composition
active ingredients: benzocaine, thick belladonna extract;
1 tablet contains benzocaine – 300 mg, thick belladonna extract (Belladonnae extractum spissum) – water-alcohol ((4.8-5.2):1) (extractant 20% (v/v) ethanol) with a content of 1.5% of the total alkaloids, calculated as atropine – base (hyoscyamine) and dry matter – 15 mg;
Excipients: microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, mannitol (E 421), calcium stearate, copovidone.
Release form
Pills.
Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics. Bellasthesin is a combined drug that includes belladonna extract and benzocaine. It has analgesic and antispasmodic effects. The analgesic effect is due to the effect of benzocaine – a local anesthetic, and the antispasmodic effect is due to the effect of belladonna alkaloids.
Indication
Spasms and pain in the stomach; gallstone disease – to eliminate spasm; for spasms of smooth muscles of other abdominal organs.
Application
Bellasthesin is prescribed orally, 1 tablet no more than 3 times a day. The duration of administration depends on the severity of the disease, the therapeutic effect, the use of the drug as monotherapy or in combination with other agents.
Contraindication
Individual intolerance to the components of Bellasthesin, glaucoma, suspected glaucoma, prostate adenoma; breastfeeding period.
Side effects
Dry mouth, ageusia, loss of appetite, drowsiness, dizziness, tachycardia, speech disorders, agitation, dilated pupils.
Special instructions
Children: There are no clinical data on the efficacy and safety of the drug in children.
Use during pregnancy is possible only if, in the opinion of the doctor, the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus.
If necessary, use of the drug should be discontinued.
The ability to influence the speed of reaction when driving vehicles or working with mechanisms. The drug is not recommended for people whose activities require high concentration of attention, speed of mental and physical reactions.
Interactions
The interactions of Bellasthesin with other drugs have not been studied.
Overdose
Cases of acute overdose of the drug Bellasthesin have not been described. It can be assumed that in case of overdose, an increase in the severity of the described side effects should be expected. In such cases, symptomatic treatment and hospitalization are indicated.
Storage conditions
In a dry, dark place at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C.
