Acetylsalicylic acid is intended for symptomatic treatment of headache, toothache; sore throat caused by a cold; algodysmenorrhea; pain in muscles and joints; back pain; moderate pain caused by arthritis.

For colds or acute respiratory diseases for symptomatic relief of pain and fever.

Composition

  • active substance: 1 tablet contains acetylsalicylic acid 500 mg;
  • auxiliary substances: potato starch; talc; citric acid, monohydrate.

Contraindication

Hypersensitivity to acetylsalicylic acid, other salicylates or any component of the drug. Bronchial asthma caused by the use of salicylates or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) in the anamnesis. Acute gastrointestinal ulcers. Hemorrhagic diathesis. Pronounced renal failure. Pronounced liver failure. Pronounced heart failure. Combination with methotrexate at a dosage of 15 mg per week or more.

Adverse reactions

From the side of the digestive tract: dyspepsia, pain in the epigastric area, abdominal pain, heartburn, nausea, vomiting; in some cases – inflammation of the digestive tract, erosive-ulcerative lesions of the digestive tract, which can in isolated cases cause gastrointestinal bleeding and perforations with corresponding laboratory and clinical manifestations; rarely – transient liver failure with an increase in the level of liver transaminases.

From the side of the blood system: due to the antiplatelet effect on platelets, acetylsalicylic acid can increase the risk of bleeding. Such bleedings as intraoperative hemorrhages, hematomas, bleedings from the organs of the genitourinary system, nosebleeds, bleedings from the gums were observed; rarely or very rarely – serious bleeding, such as gastrointestinal bleeding and cerebral hemorrhage (especially in patients with uncontrolled arterial hypertension and/or with the simultaneous use of antihemostatic agents), which in isolated cases could be potentially life-threatening.

Bleeding can lead to acute and chronic posthemorrhagic anemia/iron deficiency anemia, thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, Reye’s syndrome (due to the so-called hidden microbleeding) with corresponding laboratory manifestations and clinical symptoms, such as asthenia, pallor of the skin, hypoperfuria.

Method of application

Acetylsalicylic acid should be taken orally after eating with a sufficient amount of liquid.

Acetylsalicylic acid cannot be used for longer than 3-5 days without consulting a doctor.

Adults and children over 15 years old.

Single dose – 500-1000 mg (1-2 tablets). Repeated reception is possible after 4-8 hours. The maximum daily dose should not exceed 4 g (8 tablets).

Features of application

Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding

Acetylsalicylic acid can be used during pregnancy only if other medicines are not effective. Salicylates can be used during pregnancy only after assessing the risk/benefit ratio.

Salicylates and their metabolites enter breast milk in small amounts.

Since adverse reactions in infants after accidental use of the drug were not observed, interruption of breastfeeding, as a rule, is not required. With long-term use of the drug or the use of acetylsalicylic acid in high doses, the issue of stopping breastfeeding should be decided.

Children

The drug is not recommended for use by children under 15 years of age. Medicines containing acetylsalicylic acid should not be used in children with acute respiratory viral infection (ARVI) with or without fever. With some viral diseases, especially influenza A, influenza B and chicken pox, there is a risk of developing Reye’s syndrome, which is a very rare but life-threatening illness that requires immediate medical attention. The risk may be increased if acetylsalicylic acid is used as a concomitant drug, but a causal relationship in this case has not been proven. If these conditions are accompanied by prolonged vomiting, this may be a sign of Reye’s syndrome.

The ability to influence the speed of reaction when driving vehicles or other mechanisms

No influence on the ability to drive a car or other mechanisms was noted.

Overdose

Salicylate overdose is possible due to chronic intoxication resulting from long-term therapy (the use of more than 100 mg/kg/day for more than 2 days can cause toxic effects), as well as acute intoxication, which is life-threatening (overdose), and the causes of which can be, for example , accidental use by children or accidental overdose.

Chronic poisoning with salicylates can be hidden, as its symptoms are nonspecific. Moderate chronic intoxication caused by salicylates, or salicylism, occurs, as a rule, only after repeated administration of large doses.

Symptoms: imbalance, dizziness, ringing in the ears, deafness, reversible visual disturbances, vomiting, disturbances in rheological properties and blood coagulation. With a significant overdose – speech confusion, drowsiness, collapse, tremor, shortness of breath, dysentery, hyperthermia, dehydration, coma, metabolic acidosis, respiratory alkalosis, violation of carbohydrate metabolism.

Treatment. Treatment of intoxication caused by an overdose of acetylsalicylic acid is determined by the degree of severity, clinical symptoms and provided by standard methods used in poisoning. All applied measures should be aimed at accelerating the removal of the drug and restoring the electrolyte and acid-base balance. Activated carbon, forced alkaline diuresis are used. Depending on the state of acid-alkaline balance and electrolyte balance, electrolyte solutions are administered by infusion. In case of severe poisoning, hemodialysis is indicated.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other types of interactions

Contraindicated combinations.

The use of methotrexate in doses of 15 mg per week or more increases the hematological toxicity of methotrexate (reduction of renal clearance of methotrexate by anti-inflammatory agents and displacement of methotrexate from the connection with blood plasma proteins by salicylates).

Storage conditions

Store in the original packaging at a temperature not higher than 25 oC.

Keep out of the reach of children.
