The drug “Permethrin ointment 4%” is used for scabies.
The active substance is permethrin (1 g of ointment contains 40 mg of permethrin).
Excipients: ethanol 96%, carbomer 980, triethanolamine, purified water.
Apply a small amount of ointment in a thin layer to the areas of the skin affected by scabies and carefully rub it into the skin with massaging movements. 24 hours after the procedure, the ointment must be washed off with soap and water and the clothes changed. As a rule, the procedure should be carried out once, but if the itching does not stop or new elements of scabies appear (a sign of insufficient effectiveness), after 14 days (not earlier), the treatment should be repeated.
The drug is not recommended for use during pregnancy, except when the expected benefit to the mother exceeds the potential risk to the fetus and child. Breastfeeding should be stopped during the treatment period.
Contraindicated for use in children under 2 months. Children aged 2 months and older should use the drug as prescribed by a doctor.
There are no reports on the effect of the drug on the ability to drive vehicles or work with complex mechanisms.
There is no information on cases of overdose. In case of an overdose, the symptoms listed in the “Side effects” section may increase.
In case of overdose, it is necessary to stop using the drug, wash the skin with a large amount of warm water. It is possible to use antihistamines.
In some cases, there may be an irritating effect on the skin, burning, tingling or tingling, increased itching, swelling, numbness of the skin, paresthesia, pain, erythema, eczema, allergic reactions, including skin rashes, swelling.
