The drug “Wormwood herb” is used to increase appetite and improve the secretory activity of the digestive organs in gastritis with reduced secretory function of the stomach; as part of complex therapy for cholecystitis, biliary dyskinesia.
Composition
One pack contains (active ingredient) wormwood herb (Artemisiae absinthii herba) 75 g
Contraindication
- hypersensitivity to biologically active substances of the drug;
- gastric and duodenal ulcers, gallstone disease, history of pelvic bleeding;
- anemia;
- epilepsy.
Method of application
Place two teaspoons of the herb in an enameled dish, pour 200 ml of hot boiled water, cover with a lid and insist in a boiling water bath for 15 minutes. Cool at room temperature for 45 minutes, strain, squeeze the residue into the strained infusion. Bring the volume of the infusion to 200 ml with boiled water. Take warm 30 minutes before meals:
- adults and children over 14 years old – one tablespoon 3-4 times a day;
- children 10-14 years old – one dessert spoon 3 times a day;
- children 5-10 years old – one teaspoon 3 times a day.
The course of treatment is 2-3 weeks. Between courses, breaks of up to 2 months are required.
Application features
Pregnant women
The use of the drug is contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding (increases uterine tone).
Children
The medicine should be used in children over 5 years of age.
Drivers
The drug does not affect the reaction speed when driving vehicles or other mechanisms.
Overdose
With prolonged use, atonic constipation is possible. Taking high doses, especially long-term, can lead to poisoning – the development of convulsions, hallucinations and cause the so-called wormwood epilepsy. Treatment is symptomatic.
Side effects
Hypersensitivity reactions (including flushing, rash, itching), nausea, vomiting are possible. If adverse reactions occur, discontinue use.
Storage conditions
Store in the original packaging at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C, out of the reach of children.
Store the prepared water extract at a temperature of 8-15 °C for no more than 2 days.
Shelf life – 2 years.
