Dietary supplement OSTEOPRO for improving bone healing after fractures, tablets (30 pcs.), is a special microcrystalline hydroxyapatite complex (also known as ossein-hydroxyapatite complex), which consists of a highly bioavailable form of calcium (hydroxyapatite) and unique regulatory proteins (growth factors).
Active Components
The condition of our bones directly depends on whether we receive sufficient minerals and vitamins to maintain their function. It is commonly believed that calcium supplements are necessary for strengthening bones. This is true; however, for the growth of bone tissue, not only calcium and other minerals are needed, but also proteins, collagen, and other organic substances that form the bone matrix.
All of these components are vital whenever the structure of bone tissue is impaired. This includes osteoporosis — a condition where bones become more fragile and porous, most commonly affecting women during menopause and postmenopause. It is equally important to take mineral complexes during bone fractures to ensure faster and, more importantly, correct healing.
Mineral Complex for Bone Tissue Restoration
In cases of calcium deficiency in the body, osteoporosis, and to improve bone healing after fractures, OSTEOPRO — a bone growth stimulator — is recommended.
OSTEOPRO consists of two parts — mineral and organic:
- Mineral component (calcium hydroxyapatite) contains calcium, phosphorus, and several other micro- and macroelements (magnesium, zinc, iron, and boron).
- This form of calcium ensures complete absorption from the gastrointestinal tract.
- Phosphorus promotes calcium fixation in the bones and slows its elimination through the kidneys.
- Organic component (known as ossein) includes proteins and peptides (growth factors, osteocalcin, collagen, and others).
- Among the growth factors, the most important are: insulin-like growth factors 1 and 2 (IGF1, IGF2), and transforming growth factor beta (TGFβ).
- The organic component provides a more pronounced osteogenic effect compared with using only the mineral component (hydroxyapatite).
The mineral and organic parts exert a dual effect on bone metabolism (stimulating regeneration and inhibiting destruction). The anabolic effect on bone metabolism is stronger than that observed when using calcium alone.
Indications for Use
- To regulate calcium-phosphorus metabolism in cases of calcium deficiency and in the treatment of osteoporosis.
- To improve bone healing after fractures.
Contraindications
- Individual intolerance to components;
- Hypercalcemia;
- Hypercalciuria;
- Urolithiasis;
- Tissue calcification;
- Severe renal dysfunction.
Method of Use
Adults: 2–4 tablets per day (in 2 doses), taken with a small amount of drinking water, preferably during meals. The recommended daily dose may be increased upon a doctor’s recommendation. The duration of use is determined individually by the physician. The minimum recommended course is 1 month.
Composition
Active ingredients: microcrystalline hydroxyapatite complex (MCH-Cal™) — 1,000 mg, which includes 250 mg of proteins (type I collagen and non-collagen peptides) and 670 mg of calcium hydroxyapatite (including 250 mg of calcium and 125 mg of phosphorus).
