Indications
Duac Gel is used for the topical treatment of mild to moderate acne (acne vulgaris), mainly inflammatory lesions, in adults and children over 12 years old.
Composition
1 g of gel contains (active substances):
- Benzoyl peroxide anhydrous (as benzoyl peroxide aqueous) – 50 mg
- Clindamycin (as clindamycin phosphate) – 10 mg
Excipients: carbomer, dimethicone, sodium laurylsulfosuccinate, disodium edetate, glycerin, colloidal silicon dioxide (aqua), poloxamer, sodium hydroxide, purified water.
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to any component of the product or lincomycin
- Local enteritis, ulcerative colitis, or antibiotic-associated colitis (including pseudomembranous colitis), or history of these conditions
- Children under 12 years old
Method of Administration
For external use only. Adults and children over 12 years:
- Apply once daily in the evening to affected areas after thorough cleansing and drying.
- Wash hands after application.
- Moisturizer may be used if needed.
- If excessive dryness or peeling occurs, reduce frequency or temporarily stop treatment.
- Do not use more than once daily; more gel does not increase effectiveness.
Therapeutic effect may appear after 2–5 weeks. Maximum treatment duration: 12 weeks.
Special Considerations
Pregnancy: Use only if the expected benefit outweighs potential risk.
Breastfeeding: Use only if expected benefit outweighs risk. Avoid breast area application.
Drivers: No negative effects expected.
Overdose
Excessive topical application may cause severe skin irritation. Discontinue and allow recovery. Accidental ingestion may cause gastrointestinal side effects similar to systemic clindamycin.
Side Effects
- Very common: redness, peeling, dryness (usually mild to moderate)
- Common: burning sensation
Storage
Store in refrigerator (2–8 °C), out of reach of children. Do not freeze. After opening, keep below 25 °C, out of reach of children.
Shelf life: 1.5 years (after opening – 2 months).
