Levofloxacin Teva tablets are indicated for the treatment of infections caused by microorganisms sensitive to levofloxacin:
- acute bacterial sinusitis;
- exacerbation of chronic bronchitis;
- community-acquired pneumonia;
- complicated skin and soft tissue infections (in the case of the treatment of the above infections, the drug is used only when the use of other antibacterial agents, which are usually prescribed for the initial treatment of these infections, is impossible);
- complicated urinary tract infections (including pyelonephritis);
- chronic bacterial prostatitis;
- uncomplicated cystitis;
- Pulmonary anthrax: post-exposure prophylaxis and treatment.
Composition
Active ingredient: levofloxacin;
1 tablet of drug 250 mg contains 256.23 mg of levofloxacin hemihydrate, which is equivalent to 250 mg of levofloxacin;
1 tablet of drug 500 mg contains 512.46 mg of levofloxacin hemihydrate, which is equivalent to 500 mg of levofloxacin;
Excipients: sodium stearyl fumarate, crospovidone, colloidal silicon dioxide, copolyvidone, microcrystalline cellulose, Opadry II pink coating 31K34554.
Contraindication
- hypersensitivity to levofloxacin, other fluoroquinolones or to any component of the drug;
- epilepsy;
- tendon damage associated with previous use of fluoroquinolones;
- childhood;
- pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Method of application
The drug tablets are taken 1 or 2 times a day. The dose depends on the type, severity of the infection and the sensitivity of the likely pathogen.

Overdose
Symptoms: central nervous system disorders (confusion, dizziness, impaired consciousness and seizures, hallucinations and tremors), digestive system disorders (nausea and erosion of mucous membranes), possible prolongation of the QT interval.
Treatment: symptomatic therapy. ECG monitoring should be carried out, as QT interval prolongation is possible. Antacids are used to protect the gastric mucosa. Hemodialysis, including peritoneal dialysis or HAPD, is not effective in removing levofloxacin from the body. There is no specific antidote.
Side effects
On the part of the psyche: often (from> 1/100 to <1/10) – insomnia.
From the nervous system: often (from> 1/100 to <1/10) – headache, dizziness.
Gastrointestinal: often (from > 1/100 to <1/10) – diarrhea, nausea, vomiting.
On the part of the liver: sometimes (from> 1/100 to <1/10) – increased activity of liver enzymes (ALT / AST, alkaline phosphatase, GGTP).
Interaction
Clinical pharmacology studies have demonstrated that no clinically significant effect on the pharmacokinetics of levofloxacin was caused when levofloxacin was used together with the following drugs: calcium carbonate, digoxin, glibenclamide, ranitidine.
