Neocardil contains standardized extracts of hawthorn leaves and flowers, ginkgo leaves and pueraria root, the main components of which are flavonoids (quercetin, hyperin, hyperoside, vitexin), isoflavones, organic acids, carotenoids, pectins, triterpenes and flavonoids, choline. The pharmacological action of the drug is due to the effects of the complex of active substances that make up its composition.

Hawthorn fruit extract has a mild cardiotonic, antianginal, antioxidant, antiarrhythmic, antiplatelet and antispasmodic effect. Improves blood supply and functional state of the myocardium, contractile and pumping functions of the heart muscle, increases the sensitivity of the myocardium to cardiac glycosides, reduces high blood pressure and normalizes heart rate.

Due to the content of ginkgo biloba leaf extract, the drug improves cerebral blood flow and the supply of brain tissue with oxygen and glucose. It has antihypoxic and antioxidant effects, affects the rheological properties of blood and microcirculation, prevents platelet aggregation, improves blood circulation in the extremities. Normalizes metabolic processes, has neuroprotective, antihypoxic and antioxidant effects. The drug improves sensory and cognitive function of the brain, prevents deterioration of mental activity. Pueraria extract has an antiatherosclerotic effect, eliminates spasm of coronary and cerebral vessels, reduces blood viscosity, helps prevent vascular thrombosis and diabetic complications.

Adults should take 1 capsule of Neocardil 2 times a day, morning and evening, or the entire daily dose once in the morning.

The drug can be used regardless of meals. Capsules should be swallowed with water. The duration of treatment is determined by the doctor. The therapeutic effect is usually observed after 1 month. In the absence of positive changes in clinical symptoms or if they worsen within 6 weeks of treatment, you should consult a doctor. The average duration of the treatment course is 3 months.

Individual hypersensitivity to the components of the drug. pronounced arterial hypotension and bradycardia.

Cardiovascular system: discomfort in the heart area (feeling of chest tightness), heart rhythm disturbances (slowing or accelerating heart rate), arterial hypotension.

It is recommended to closely monitor patients who are taking concomitant medications that are metabolized by cytochrome P450 3A4. There is no information on the abuse of Ginkgo biloba (EGb 761). Based on the pharmacological characteristics of the drug, Ginkgo biloba (EGb 761) has no potential for abuse.

This medicine contains lactose. Patients with rare hereditary problems of the Lapp lactase deficiency, galactosemia or glucose-galactose malabsorption should not take this medicine.

Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. There are no data on the use of the drug during pregnancy and breastfeeding, therefore Neocardil is not used during these periods.

Children. There is no experience with the use of the drug in children, therefore Neocardil is not used in pediatric practice.

The ability to influence the reaction rate when driving vehicles or other mechanisms. In rare cases, temporary deterioration of reaction due to drowsiness is possible.

Results of clinical interaction studies with Ginkgo biloba (EGB 761) demonstrated its ability to potentiate or inhibit cytochrome P450 isoenzymes. Midazolam concentrations were altered after concomitant administration of Ginkgo biloba (EGB 761), suggesting an interaction via CYP 3A4. Therefore, medicinal products that are primarily metabolised by CYP 3A4 and have a narrow therapeutic index should be used with caution.

Hawthorn preparations enhance the effect of quinidine, novocainamide, cardiac glycosides. It is not recommended to use hawthorn preparations simultaneously with alkaloid salts due to the formation of a precipitate.

The drug enhances the effect of antiarrhythmic drugs, enhances the effects of hypnotics, sedatives, and hypotensive drugs. The drug should not be used together with cisapride.

Bradycardia may occur, requiring discontinuation of the drug.
