Psilo-balm is an external drug used for the symptomatic treatment of certain skin diseases, as well as insect bites and other skin lesions. Psilo-balsam belongs to the group of local antihistamines (antiallergic) agents. The active substance is diphenhydramine hydrochloride. The drug can be used in adult patients and children over 2 years of age.
Active ingredient: diphenhydramine.
Gel.
Diphenhydramine, which is part of the gel, belongs to antihistamine drugs, H1-receptor antagonists. Blocking the latter, prevents the development of histamine effects. When applied topically, it has antiallergic and antipruritic effects; used for local treatment of sunburn, insect bites and allergic skin lesions. The gel’s constituent components have a protective and softening effect on the skin.
First-degree sunburn and thermal burns, insect bites, hives, chickenpox, skin itching of various origins, including eczema.
Apply Psilo-Balsam to the damaged areas of the skin in a thin, even layer using light smoothing movements. The gel is quickly absorbed and does not leave any visible traces.
Adults and children over 2 years of age should apply the drug 3-4 times a day. The duration of treatment depends on the severity of the lesion and the effectiveness of therapy and is determined by the doctor individually.
Hypersensitivity to the active substance of the drug or its components.
Rarely – allergic reactions.
Avoid contact with eyes. Avoid alcohol consumption. Avoid direct sunlight on treated skin areas due to the possibility of photosensitivity reactions. It is not recommended to apply the drug to open wounds, fractures or mucous membranes.
In cases of sleep apnea (or a known family history of sudden infant death syndrome), histamine H1 receptor antagonists should be used with caution.
Use with caution in elderly patients and patients with acute illnesses.
If symptoms worsen or if there is no improvement, you should consult a doctor regarding further treatment.
The drug should be used in children over 2 years of age.
Psilo-Balsam should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding due to insufficient studies of the drug’s effects on the fetus/infant.
Caution should be exercised when performing work that requires increased attention and quick mental reactions.
