Release form
Nasal spray, solution.
Pharmacological properties
Naphazoline is a drug that stimulates the sympathetic nervous system and affects α-adrenoceptors. as a result of the vasoconstrictive effect of the drug Sanorin, swelling, hyperemia, and exudation are reduced, which facilitates nasal breathing in rhinitis. naphazoline promotes the opening and expansion of the excretory duct of the paranasal sinuses and Eustachian tubes, which improves secretion outflow and prevents the settling of bacteria.
When applied topically, naphazoline is completely absorbed.
The therapeutic effect occurs within 5 minutes and lasts 4-6 hours with intranasal use.
Indication
Acute rhinitis, inflammation of paranasal sinuses, otitis media. to reduce swelling during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
Application
Adults and children over 15 years of age spray 1-3 irrigations in each nostril 3 times a day with an interval of at least 4 hours.
It is not recommended to use for adults for more than 1 week and children for more than 3 days. If nasal breathing becomes easier, the application can be stopped earlier. Sanorin spray can be reapplied only after a few days.
Contraindication
Increased sensitivity to the components of the drug; dry inflammation of the mucous membrane of the nose; children’s age up to 15 years.
Side effects
When used in recommended doses, Sanorin is well tolerated.
From the side of the immune system: hypersensitivity reactions.
From the side of the respiratory system, organs of the chest and mediastinum: burning and dryness of the mucous membrane of the nose.
The drug contains methylparaben, which can cause allergic reactions (including long-term ones), including rash, reddening of the skin, itching, difficulty breathing, dry cough, increased respiratory rate.
In rare cases, a feeling of severe nasal congestion may occur after the action wears off.
Systemic side effects are sometimes noted, which are provoked by irritation of sympathetic nerves and occur mainly after an overdose:
from the nervous system: nervousness, headache, tremor.
From the side of the cardiovascular system: tachycardia, palpitations, hypertension.
From the side of the skin and subcutaneous tissue: increased sweating.
These side effects occur mainly due to overdose. Nasal use of the drug for 5 days in adults or 3 days in children or very frequent use can cause addiction to the drug, which is accompanied by swelling of the nasal mucosa shortly after its use.
Long-term use of the drug can lead to damage to the nasal mucosa with a decrease in ciliary activity, irreversible damage to the nasal mucosa and dry inflammation of the nasal mucosa.
Special instructions
The drug is used with special caution in severe diseases of the cardiovascular system (athemia, coronary artery disease), in diabetes, hyperthyroidism, pheochromocytoma, and simultaneously with MAO inhibitors and other potentially hypertensive drugs. caution is necessary when conducting general anesthesia with the use of anesthetics that increase the sensitivity of the myocardium to sympathomimetics (for example, halothane), as well as during pregnancy and breastfeeding. when using the drug in high doses, the development of such side effects from the side of the cardiovascular and nervous system is possible, such as palpitations, heartburn, arrhythmia, headache, vertigo, insomnia, drowsiness.
Avoid prolonged use in adults and children. Long-term use of the drug can lead to chronic nasal congestion and atrophy of the nasal mucosa.
The period of pregnancy and breastfeeding
The drug may be used in exceptional cases only as prescribed by a doctor, who will determine the ratio of benefit and possible risk. There is no information on the penetration of naphazoline nitrate through the placenta or with breast milk.
Children
The spray is used in children older than 15 years.
To the drivers

Overdose
An overdose or accidental ingestion of the drug can cause a systemic side effect, which is manifested by nervousness, increased sweating, headache, tremors, tachycardia, a feeling of heartbeat, ag. cyanosis, nausea, fever, spasms, heart attack, pulmonary edema, respiratory disorders, and mental disorders are also possible. the depressing effect on the central nervous system is manifested by such symptoms as hypothermia, bradycardia, increased sweating, drowsiness, hypotensive type shock, apnea, coma. treatment is symptomatic. the risk of overdose increases in children, who are more vulnerable to negative effects than adults.
