Susprin oral solution with ondansetron prevents and treats nausea and vomiting from chemotherapy or radiotherapy, with pediatric use guidance.

Susprin oral solution is indicated for:

  • Treatment of nausea and vomiting induced by cytotoxic chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
  • Prevention of postoperative nausea and vomiting.
  • For the treatment of postoperative nausea and vomiting, it is recommended to use ondansetron in the form of an injectable solution.

Composition

Active ingredient: ondansetron.

5 ml of solution contains ondansetron hydrochloride dihydrate equivalent to 4 mg ondansetron.

Excipients: citric acid, monohydrate; sodium benzoate (E211); sodium citrate; sorbitol solution, non-crystallizing (E420); Strawberry flavoring; purified water.

Contraindication

Concomitant use of ondansetron with apomorphine hydrochloride.

Hypersensitivity to any component of the drug.

Method of application

Adults are prescribed 8 mg of ondansetron (10 ml) 1–2 hours before the start of chemotherapy or radiotherapy, followed by 8 mg (10 ml) every 12 hours for no more than 5 days.

Children

Ondansetron oral solution is indicated for use in children 6 months of age and older for the treatment of nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy.

For the prevention or treatment of postoperative nausea and vomiting in children aged 1 month and older, it is recommended to use ondansetron in the form of an injectable solution.

Drivers

Psychomotor tests have shown that ondansetron does not affect the ability to drive and use machines and does not have a sedative effect. Based on the pharmacology of ondansetron, no adverse effects on such activities are expected.

Overdose

Visual disturbances, severe constipation, hypotension, and vasovagal manifestations with transient second-degree atrioventricular block have been reported in overdose. Serotonin syndrome has been reported in children aged 12 months to 2 years following overdose.

Interaction

There is no evidence that ondansetron accelerates or inhibits the metabolism of other drugs when used concomitantly. Ondansetron has been shown not to interact with alcohol, temazepam, furosemide, alfentanil, tramadol, morphine, lidocaine, thiopental, or propofol.

Storage conditions

Store at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children. After first opening the bottle, the drug should be stored for no more than 28 days.
