Venohepanol is an antithrombotic, anti-edematous agent with anti-inflammatory effect for external use. Heparin, which is part of the drug, has a local antithrombotic, anti-edematous and anti-inflammatory effect. Venorutinol has a venotonic and angioprotective effect, normalizes the permeability of the capillary walls, increases their tone due to p-vitamin activity and improves microcirculation and tissue trophism.

Pharmacological properties

Venohepanol is an antithrombotic, anti-edematous agent with anti-inflammatory effect for external use. Heparin, which is part of the drug, has a local antithrombotic, anti-edematous and anti-inflammatory effect. Venorutinol has a venotonic and angioprotective effect, normalizes the permeability of the capillary walls, increases their tone due to p-vitamin activity and improves microcirculation and tissue trophism. Dexpanthenol stimulates granulation and epithelialization of tissues, forming an active metabolite – pantothenic acid, which participates in the synthesis of coenzyme A.

Indication

Prevention and treatment of varicose veins, including after surgical interventions; thrombosis, thrombophlebitis; closed injuries (including sports) with hematomas, sprains; infiltrates; cicatricial indurations and external inflammatory processes without violation of the integrity of the skin; tendovaginitis.

Application

The drug is used externally. Adults apply the gel to the intact skin of the affected area 1-3 times a day. In the treatment of vein diseases, the drug is used in the form of bandages with gel. In varicose ulcers, the gel is applied in the form of a ring with a diameter of 4 cm around the ulcer. Avoid applying the gel directly to the ulcer surface!

The duration of treatment is determined by the doctor individually and depends on the clinical indications and the course of the disease. In the treatment of injuries (including sports) with hematomas, the duration of treatment is 5-7 days.

Contraindication

Individual hypersensitivity to any of the components of the drug, hemophilia, hemorrhagic diathesis, idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, severe thrombocytopenia, ulcerative-necrotic processes in the area of thrombophlebitis, tendency to bleeding, bleeding, traumatic violations of the integrity of the skin, open and/or infected wounds.

Side effects

In some cases, local hypersensitivity reactions are possible – hyperemia, skin irritation, itching, rashes, including urticaria, angioedema, dermatitis, eczema, allergic reactions, contact dermatitis, irritation, burning sensation, swelling of the skin, hemorrhages, sometimes – the appearance of small pustules, vesicles or blisters. When applied to large areas of the skin, systemic adverse reactions are possible. Usually these symptoms resolve on their own after discontinuation of the drug.

In case of any adverse reactions, you should definitely consult a doctor regarding further use of the drug.

Special instructions

The gel is applied only to intact skin.

Do not apply to the surface of the skin wound and make sure that the drug does not get into the eyes and mucous membranes. Can be applied under an occlusive dressing. After applying the gel, it is necessary to avoid exposure to sunlight on the treated areas of the skin.

Patients with chronic venous insufficiency are recommended to use the drug both in the initial and late stages of the disease (the feeling of heaviness in the legs, swelling of the lower extremities decreases, and trophicity improves).

In severe renal impairment, long-term use of the drug is not recommended.

Venohepanol is used with caution in cases of bleeding (in this case, blood clotting control is necessary during treatment).

If the gel gets into the eyes, rinse them with water. In case of accidental ingestion of a large amount of gel, induce vomiting and consult a doctor.

If the signs of the disease do not disappear or, on the contrary, the state of health worsens, or undesirable phenomena occur, it is necessary to suspend the use of the drug and consult a doctor regarding further use.

Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. The drug is not used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Children: Do not use.

Ability to influence the reaction rate when driving vehicles or working with other mechanisms. The drug Venohepanol does not affect the reaction rate when driving vehicles or working with other mechanisms.

Interactions

Simultaneous use of the drug and dextran, phenylbutazone, ketorolac may increase the risk of bleeding.

Parenteral administration of nitroglycerin together with the use of Venohepanol, as well as simultaneous use of the gel with thyroxine, tetracycline, antihistamines, ergot alkaloids, and nicotine may weaken the effect of the drug.

Oral anticoagulants (e.g. warfarin, dicumarol, clopidogrel) concomitantly with the use of Venohepanol gel may cause prolongation of prothrombin time.

NSAIDs (e.g. diclofenac, ibuprofen, indomethacin), venotonic drugs when used simultaneously enhance the effect of Venohepanol gel.

Enhances the effect of ascorbic acid on the structure and permeability of the vascular wall.

ACE inhibitors, aliskiren: possible hyperglycemia.

Dipyridamole, iloprost increase the anticoagulant effect of the active ingredient of Venohepanol – heparin.

Concomitant use of Venohepanol with drugs containing sulindac may lead to the development of peripheral neuropathy.

Dexpanthenol, which is part of Venohepanol, can enhance the effect of depolarizing muscle relaxants (e.g. suxamethonium chloride, decamethonium bromide) and weaken the effect of non-depolarizing muscle relaxants (e.g. tubocurarine chloride) due to its ability to stimulate the synthesis of acetylcholine.

If the patient is taking any other medications, it is imperative to inform the doctor.

Overdose

Symptoms. If the specified dosage regimen is followed, overdose is unlikely. When applied to large areas of skin (due to probable systemic absorption), hemorrhagic complications in the form of bleeding of varying severity are possible.

Treatment. In case of minor bleeding, the dose should be reduced or the drug should be temporarily discontinued. In case of severe bleeding, 1% protamine sulfate solution is slowly administered intravenously. If the heparin concentration in the blood is unknown, a single dose of protamine sulfate should not exceed 1 ml. If indicated, peritoneal dialysis is performed. Symptomatic therapy.

Storage conditions

In the original packaging at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C.
