Pharmacological properties
Passionflower extract is made from the medicinal plant passiflora incarnata, which contains 0.04% indole alkaloids (harman, harmine, harmol), some flavonoids (vitexin, quercetin), as well as coumarins, quinones, etc.
The components of the extract inhibit the conduction of nerve impulses in the spinal cord and brain, reduce the excitability of the CNS and have a sedative effect.
The drug improves mood in depressive states, reduces anxiety and mental tension, has a mild hypnotic effect without symptoms of depression upon awakening. It has anticonvulsant properties.
Indication
As a sedative for patients with neurasthenic and depressive states, with stress, anxiety, nervousness, sleep disorders, in the climacteric and pre-climax period. The drug is effective for vegetative symptoms of diseases of the nervous system (neurocirculatory dystonia, angina pectoris, cerebral vascular crises, increased sweating, palpitations), as well as for post-infectious asthenia syndrome.
Application
Syrup. For adults: to achieve a sedative effect, take 5-10 ml of syrup (1-2 teaspoons) 3 times a day before meals. For sleep disorders – 10 ml (2 teaspoons) before bedtime.
For children (over 3 years of age): 2.5 ml (0.5 teaspoon) 2-3 times a day. The duration of treatment is determined individually depending on the indications and clinical efficacy of the drug. The recommended single dose should not be exceeded.
Contraindication
Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug; age up to 3 years.
Side effects
When used in recommended doses, allergic reactions are unlikely. Sometimes allergic reactions are possible.
Special instructions
Use with caution in severe organic diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. There are no data on the use of the drug during pregnancy and breastfeeding, therefore it is necessary to assess the expected benefit to the mother and the possible risk to the fetus or child.
Alora syrup contains sucrose, therefore Alora syrup should not be prescribed to diabetics and patients with rare hereditary forms of fructose intolerance, sucrase-isomaltase insufficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome.
During treatment with Alora, you should avoid driving vehicles and working with potentially dangerous mechanisms.
Interactions
When used simultaneously with drugs that depress the central nervous system, such as barbiturates, tranquilizers, the sedative and hypnotic effects of the drug are enhanced. Simultaneous administration with benzodiazepines is not recommended. Simultaneous administration with disulfiram should be avoided. During treatment with Alora, alcoholic beverages should not be consumed.
Overdose
There are no data on overdose of the drug. In case of overdose, it is recommended to wash the stomach and prescribe symptomatic therapy.
Storage conditions
In a place protected from light at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C.
