Pancreatin – is obtained from the pancreas of pigs and contains the enzymes amylase, protease and lipase. The enzymes have the same effect as pancreatic juice and, when used, improve the ability to metabolize starch, proteins and fats.

Pepsin is one of the main proteolytic enzymes of the digestive tract. It is produced in the cells of the gastric mucosa in an inactive form – as the proenzyme pepsinogen, which is converted into the active enzyme pepsin in the gastric contents.

It acts at the initial stage of protein digestion in the digestive tract; in the acidic environment of gastric contents, it hydrolyzes proteins to peptides, and among the hydrolysis products are amino acids.

Diastase – promotes the digestion of food rich in carbohydrates. The amylolytic enzyme diastase has specific activity in the conversion of starch into dextrose and maltose. In case of deficiency of this enzyme, the hydrolysis process slows down, which contributes to the formation of carbon dioxide (unpleasant sensations appear in the stomach).

Papain is a substance of plant origin, a mixture of enzymes obtained from the juice of unripe papaya fruits (Carica Papaya), consists of a mixture of papain and chymopapain, has broad proteolytic activity. It can be used by patients with reduced or preserved acid-forming function of the stomach.
