Hericium Erinaceus – an edible medicinal mushroom – basidiomycetes, has a wide range of positive effects on the activity of human organs and systems, including the immune, digestive and nervous. 2 capsules of Cebrophyte contain an amount of Hericium Erinaceus extract equivalent to 3 g of dry Hericium Erinaceus powder.

Hericium Erinaceus is a source of polysaccharides, aromatic substances (hericenone), and terpenoids (erinacein). Erinacein is a low molecular weight substance that is absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, passes through the blood-brain barrier and enters the brain. The beneficial effect of Hericium Erinaceus on the nervous system has been used in traditional Japanese herbal medicine for several hundred years, and is associated in particular with the action of erinacein. Adding erinacein to food can stimulate the synthesis of neurotrophins by brain neurons: nerve growth factor (NGF) and brain neurotrophic factor (BDNF). NGF was isolated in 1956 by Rita Levi-Montalcini and Stanley Cohen, and their discovery was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1986. Increased levels of NFG are associated with: survival of neurons during ischemia (so-called neuroprotection), differentiation, development and renewal of neurons after ischemic injury, as well as a cascade of anabolic processes in the central nervous system, manifested by an increase in the size of the neuron body, branching (so-called sprouting) of neuronal processes (so-called axons and dendrites) and an increase in the number of synaptic connections between neurons. Erinacin penetrates the blood-brain barrier and stimulates NGF synthesis through interaction with neuronal mitogen-activated protein kinase.

Hericium Erinaceus enhances the synthesis of neuronal growth factor. Neurotrophic, neuroregenerative effects and increased neurotransmission are manifested by an increase in the concentration of catecholamines (dopamine and norepinephrine) in the brain in the absence of ischemia, acceleration of the restoration of neuromuscular transmission and movement after traumatic damage to peripheral motor nerves, and an increase in the release of brain neurotransmitters.
