Espol ointment is used for the following indications: myalgia, neuralgia, lumbago, lumbosacral radiculitis, for blows without violation of the integrity of the skin, for stretching and tearing of muscles, and for treating the consequences of fractures.
Composition
1 g of ointment contains (active ingredient) capsicum (Capsicum annuum) thick extract calculated at 1.8% capsaicinoid content 100 mg (extractant ethanol 80%).
Excipients: dimethyl sulfoxide, eucalyptus oil, lavender oil, chloroform, lanolin, white soft paraffin.
Contraindication
- increased individual sensitivity to the components of the drug;
- bronchial asthma, renal and hepatic insufficiency, circulatory failure, glaucoma, cataracts, angina pectoris, stroke, injuries, skin integrity disorders, open wounds, eczema, active stage of any inflammatory process, purulent skin diseases;
- pregnancy and breastfeeding;
- children’s age up to 12 years.
Method of application
Before use, remove the tube from the refrigerator and keep at room temperature for 2 hours. Adults and children over 12 years of age are prescribed for external use only.
The ointment is applied 2-3 times a day to the skin (only to the painful area) until a feeling of warmth or slight tingling appears in it, in an amount of approximately 0.2 g per 1 cm 2 and lightly rubbed in using an applicator. To enhance the effect of the drug, it is possible to use a dry warming wrap for painful areas.
The duration of use is determined individually by the doctor and usually ranges from 1 to 10 days.
After applying the ointment, you must wash your hands thoroughly.
After the procedure, the ointment remaining on the skin is removed with a cloth moistened with soapy water.
Application features
Pregnant women
The drug is not used during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Children
Do not use on children under 12 years of age. Do not use warming bandages.
Drivers
The drug does not affect the reaction speed when driving vehicles or other mechanisms.
Overdose
The appearance of allergic reactions in the form of skin rashes, hives, peeling skin.
Treatment: after signs of overdose appear, remove the ointment remaining on the skin with a cloth moistened with soapy water and consult a doctor. Therapy is symptomatic.
Side effects
On the skin: itching, peeling of the skin at the site of application, redness of the skin, a feeling of warmth and rash at the site of application of the ointment, mild burning, tingling, contact eczema.
Hypersensitivity reactions: possible angioedema, hypersensitivity; allergic reactions, including urticaria, blistering.
Storage conditions
Store in the original packaging at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C, out of the reach of children.
Shelf life – 3 years.
