Pharmacological Properties

Eucabal 600 sachet powder for oral solution is indicated for the treatment of acute and chronic bronchopulmonary diseases requiring reduction of sputum viscosity, improvement of its discharge, and expectoration.

Composition

Active ingredient: acetylcysteine;

1 sachet contains 600 mg of acetylcysteine.

Excipients: sucrose, orange flavoring, colloidal silicon dioxide, tartaric acid, sodium chloride.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to acetylcysteine or any excipients. Peptic ulcer of the stomach or duodenum in the acute phase, hemoptysis, pulmonary bleeding.

Age under 14 years.

Method of Administration

The product should be taken after meals, dissolved in ½ glass of water, juice, or cold tea. After preparation, consume the solution as soon as possible. Additional fluid intake enhances the mucolytic effect.

The duration of treatment for chronic diseases is determined by the physician depending on the nature and course of the disease. In acute uncomplicated conditions, acetylcysteine is used for 5–7 days.

Unless otherwise prescribed, adults and adolescents over 14 years should take 1 sachet (600 mg acetylcysteine per day).

Special Warnings

Pregnancy: Use is possible only if the potential benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus or child.

Children: Use in children under 14 years is contraindicated.

Drivers: No evidence that acetylcysteine affects the ability to drive or operate machinery.

Overdose

Symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea. Risk of hypersecretion in children.

Treatment: symptomatic.

Side Effects

• Nervous system: uncommon – headache.
• Ear and labyrinth: uncommon – tinnitus.
• Respiratory system: unknown – rhinorrhea.
• Heart: uncommon – tachycardia.
• Vascular system: very rare – hemorrhage.
• Chest and mediastinum: rare – bronchospasm, dyspnea.

Interactions

Activated charcoal reduces the effectiveness of acetylcysteine.

Do not dissolve acetylcysteine together with other medicines in the same glass.

Acetylcysteine reduces the hepatotoxic effect of paracetamol.

Synergistic effect noted with bronchodilators.

Storage Conditions

Store in the original packaging at temperatures not exceeding 30°C.

Keep out of reach of children.
