Medichronal Darnytsia is a combined agent that helps reduce the accumulation of toxic alcohol metabolites in the body, in particular acetaldehyde (an oxidation product of ethanol).

The drug has a detoxification effect, improves metabolic processes in the body, enhances the synthesis of catecholamines, especially noradrenaline, which improves neuromediation processes, stimulates the limbic-reticular complex, and increases the functional activity of the cerebral cortex.

The drug Medichronal has a positive effect on liver function, and also improves sleep and general well-being.

The reduction of symptoms of acute alcohol intoxication, symptoms of mild and moderate withdrawal syndrome occurs within 20-30 minutes after taking the drug.

Aminoacetic acid is rapidly absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract. It has almost 100% bioavailability. It easily penetrates most body fluids and tissues. It is destroyed in the liver by the enzyme glycine oxidase.

Sodium formate is rapidly absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract. In the systemic bloodstream and tissues of the body, it reacts with acetaldehyde to form conjugates that participate in the tricarboxylic acid cycle, increasing the formation of macroergic compounds.

Alcohol intoxication, withdrawal state; to increase the effectiveness of other methods of therapy; prevention of intoxication; secondary prevention of alcoholism.

Medichronal is used in adults after meals, having previously dissolved the contents of both packets in ½-¾ cup (200 ml) of warm water. A single dose is 28.5 g (total weight of the components of both packets). To improve the taste, the contents of the packets can be dissolved in non-carbonated drinks (juice, compote, etc.).

To eliminate acute alcoholic and withdrawal states, the drug is used on the first day 1-2 times (after 10-12 hours) in a dose of 28.5 g, in the next 2-3 days – 28.5 g once a day.

In combination with other drugs in the treatment of chronic alcoholism and if secondary prevention is necessary, this drug is taken daily, one package (28.5 g) for 7 days in the form of 3 courses with a 3-day break between them. To prevent relapses, 1-1.5 months after the course of treatment with Medichronal, it is recommended to undergo a repeated 30-day course of therapy. It is also possible to use from 1 to 3 repeated short-term preventive courses of treatment (7-14 days each) during the year.

To prevent intoxication, it is necessary to take a single dose (contents of packets No. 1 and No. 2) 30 minutes before drinking alcoholic beverages.

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug; severe forms of diabetes mellitus, arterial hypotension.

All components of the drug Medichronal are natural metabolites, so it is well tolerated. In some cases, the following side effects are possible:

from the nervous system: headache, tension, irritability, impaired concentration;

Gastrointestinal: nausea;

Immune system: hypersensitivity reactions, including rash, itching, urticaria.

Medichronal can be used both independently and in complex treatment. When prescribing treatment, it is necessary to use an individual approach, which may involve changing the duration of treatment or increasing the number of repeated courses during the year.

In patients with a tendency to hypotension, it is necessary to monitor the level of blood pressure and, if necessary, adjust the dose of the drug (prescribed in lower doses, subject to regular monitoring of blood pressure). If blood pressure decreases below normal levels, the drug is discontinued.

Since the drug contains glucose, its use is restricted to conditions accompanied by hyperglycemia.

Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Strictly controlled and adequate studies on the efficacy and safety of the drug in pregnant and breastfeeding women have not been conducted, therefore use during pregnancy is possible if the benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus.

Ability to influence the reaction rate when driving vehicles or working with other mechanisms. During treatment, caution should be exercised when driving vehicles and working with complex mechanisms.

Children: No studies have been conducted on the efficacy and safety of the drug in children.

The active ingredient of the drug – glycine – reduces the toxicity of anticonvulsants, antipsychotics, antidepressants, and anticonvulsants.

When combined with tranquilizers, hypnotics and antipsychotics, the CNS inhibitory effect is enhanced.

Medichronal can be used together with other drugs for the treatment of alcohol dependence, except for disulfiram. Disulfiram can be used after courses of treatment with Medichronal, if necessary.

There is no information about clinical manifestations of overdose. In case of overdose, digestive disorders (nausea, bloating, diarrhea) and increased manifestations of adverse reactions are possible. Therapy is symptomatic.
