St. John’s wort is a hypnotic and sedative agent. The drug is used as a sedative for adults in cases of increased nervous excitability, cardiovascular neuroses, in the early stages of hypertension, and mild forms of sleep disturbances.
Composition
- active substance: 1 tablet contains a thick extract of the motherwort grass (Leonuri cardiaca herba) (1:0.15) (extractant – ethanol 70.0% (v/v)), calculated on the content of the sum of flavonoids 0.4% and dry matter – 14 mg;
- excipients: lactose, monohydrate; potato starch; confectioner’s sugar; talc; calcium stearate; silicified cellulose, microcrystalline.
Contraindication
Increased sensitivity to biologically active substances contained in medicinal plant raw materials.
Tendency to arterial hypotension.
Adverse reactions
On the part of the skin: rash, itching, hyperemia and swelling of the skin.
From the digestive tract: dyspepsia.
From the side of the immune system: allergic reactions.
From the side of the nervous system: dizziness, drowsiness, feeling of fatigue, decreased mental and physical performance.
Method of application
Adults and children over 12 years old should take 1 tablet (14 mg) 3-4 times a day. The duration of the course of treatment is determined by the doctor individually for each patient, taking into account the nature, degree of severity and peculiarities of the course of the disease, the stability of the achieved therapeutic effect and the tolerability of the drug.
Features of application
The drug contains lactose, so patients with rare hereditary forms of galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome are not recommended to use the drug.
Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding
The drug is contraindicated during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Children
The drug is not used for children under 12 years of age.
The ability to influence the speed of reaction when driving vehicles or other mechanisms
During the period of treatment with the drug, you should refrain from driving vehicles and performing other work that requires increased attention, quick mental and motor reactions.
Overdose
If the recommended doses of the drug are exceeded, dizziness, drowsiness, and a decrease in blood pressure may occur.
Treatment. In case of overdose, you should stop using the drug. Symptomatic and supportive therapy is prescribed (according to the patient’s clinical condition).
Storage conditions
Store in the original packaging at a temperature not higher than 25 °C.
