Pharyngton is an antiseptic for the local treatment of symptoms of inflammation of the mucous membrane of the throat and larynx.
Composition
- active ingredients: 1 tablet contains chlorhexidine dihydrochloride 5 mg, ascorbic acid 50 mg;
- excipients: sugar, methylcellulose, talc, magnesium stearate, quinoline yellow (E 104) Ponceau 4 R (E 124), orange flavoring.
Contraindication
Hypersensitivity to chlorhexidine or to any other component of the drug.
Adverse reactions
Allergic reactions are possible, including nasal congestion, skin rash, peeling of the oral mucosa, swelling of the parotid glands. Changes in taste, increased plaque, discoloration (brown spots) of teeth, fillings and dentures, irritation or inflammation of the oral mucosa, irritation of the gastric mucosa and diarrhea have been reported.
The medicine contains the dye Ponceau 4R (E 124), which may cause allergic reactions in hypersensitive individuals.
Method of application
Adults and children over 12 years of age: dissolve 1 tablet 4 times a day (every 6 hours).
The tablet should be taken after meals and after brushing your teeth.
It is recommended not to rinse your mouth or drink large amounts of liquid for 2 hours after sucking the tablets.
Application features
The use of the drug may temporarily slightly change the sense of taste, but within 4 hours after taking the drug, taste perception is fully restored. It is recommended to take the drug after a meal.
Farington should not be taken for more than 14 days, on average it should be used for 5-7 days.
Due to the presence of sugar in the composition of the medicinal product, it should be used with caution in the treatment of patients with diabetes mellitus and those prone to caries.
Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding
Studies on the effects of chlorhexidine during pregnancy have not been conducted. In animal studies, when using doses that were many times higher than the doses that humans could receive when using chlorhexidine, no embryotoxic effect was detected. However, a pregnant woman should consult a doctor before taking the drug.
A woman who is breastfeeding should consult a doctor before taking Farington.
Children
It is recommended for use in children over 12 years of age.
Ability to influence reaction speed when driving vehicles or other mechanisms
The drug is completely safe and does not affect the psychophysical ability to drive a car or operate complex mechanisms.
Overdose
The drug is practically not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, so overdose is very unlikely. In case of possible overdose of the drug, clinical examination and symptomatic treatment are necessary.
Interaction with other medicinal products and other types of interactions
There are no reports of interactions with other drugs.
