Skin solution Dimexid is used as part of the complex therapy of inflammatory diseases of the musculoskeletal system: rheumatoid arthritis, Bekhterev’s disease, deforming osteoarthritis (in the presence of periarticular tissue damage); in arthropathy, stretching of tendons in case of hammering, traumatic infiltrates, acute and chronic osteomyelitis, streptoderma, purulent wounds, abscesses; in skin and plastic surgery, for engraftment of transplanted skin auto- and homografts, as well as for preservation of skin homografts.
Skin solution Dimexid is used:
The active substance is dimethyl sulfoxide (1 vial contains 50 ml of dimethyl sulfoxide).
Apply in the form of aqueous solutions (30-50% concentration) for compresses, tampons.
Gauze napkins moistened with dimexide solution should be applied to the affected areas, covering the adjacent healthy areas of the skin, once a day for 20-30 minutes. Place polyethylene film and cotton or linen fabric on top of the napkin.
For diffuse streptoderma, compresses with a 40-90% solution of the drug Dimexid are recommended.
For purulent skin diseases, use a 40% solution.
In skin-plastic surgery, bandages with a 10-20% solution of the drug should be applied to the transplanted skin auto- and homografts immediately after the operation and in the following days of the postoperative period until the transplant is firmly engrafted.
As a preservative for the storage of skin homografts, use a 5% Dimexid solution in Ringer’s solution.
The drug is contraindicated for use during pregnancy. Breastfeeding should be discontinued during treatment with dimethylsulfoxide.
Do not use the drug for children under 12 years of age.
It should be used with caution, taking into account the effect on the central nervous system, in particular, the likelihood of dizziness.
An overdose of the drug can cause allergic reactions (hives, swelling) and increase the manifestations of adverse reactions.
Treatment. Discontinuation of the drug, symptomatic therapy.
Dimethyl sulfoxide is usually well tolerated, but some patients may:
From the side of the immune system: allergic reactions including dermatitis, skin rashes, angioedema, itching, burning, redness of the skin, erythema, dry skin.
From the gastrointestinal tract: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea.
From the side of the central and peripheral nervous system: headache, dizziness, insomnia, adynamia.
From the respiratory system: bronchospasm.
Store in the original packaging at a temperature no higher than 25 °C, in a place inaccessible to children.
Shelf life – 3 years.
