Pharmacological properties
The drug Echinacea compositum has an immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory and detoxifying effect, which is based on the activation of the body’s defenses and the normalization of impaired functions due to substances of plant, mineral and animal origin that are part of the drug.
Indication
Comprehensive treatment of acute and chronic inflammatory and purulent-infectious diseases of the mucous membranes, internal organs and skin with severe intoxication and frequent relapses.
Application
A single dose, which is also a daily dose: adults and children over 12 years old – 2.2 ml, children aged 1-3 years – 0.6 ml; 3-6 years – 1.0 ml; 6-12 years – 1.5 ml. apply 1-3 times a week in the form of i / m, s / c, i / c, and if necessary – i / v (jet) injections, as well as into acupuncture points. The course of treatment is 2-6 weeks.
Contraindication
Hypersensitivity to plants of the Asteraceae family (including arnica, echinacea), the poison ivy family or other components of the drug. tuberculosis, leukemia, inflammatory diseases of connective tissues (collagenoses), autoimmune diseases, multiple sclerosis, diseases of the blood system, AIDS, HIV infection, immunosuppression or immunodeficiency of various etiologies and other chronic viral diseases.
Side effects
In very rare cases, gastrointestinal disturbances or skin reactions may occur, including a few days after starting the drug.
During treatment with drugs containing Canadian Sanguinaria, isolated cases of increased levels of transaminases and bilirubin in blood plasma up to the appearance of drug-induced jaundice (drug-induced toxic hepatitis) have been noted, which decreased or normalized after discontinuation of the drug.
In very rare cases, hypersensitivity reactions (up to anaphylactic reactions) may occur in individuals with hypersensitivity to plants of the Asteraceae family (including Arnica, Echinacea). Temporary reactions at the injection site may occur, including redness, swelling and pain.
After using preparations containing echinacea extract, reactions from the digestive tract (including nausea, abdominal pain); menstrual disorders; acne, rash, itching, urticaria; agitation, sleep disturbances; in isolated cases – facial swelling, difficulty breathing (dyspnea), dizziness and decreased blood pressure were noted.

In case of liver disease or concomitant use of hepatotoxic drugs, use only after consulting a doctor.
When using the drug for more than 4 weeks, it is necessary to monitor liver function indicators.
Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. The drug is not used during pregnancy and breastfeeding due to the presence of Canadian bloodroot (Sanguinaria canadensis) in the composition.
Children. The drug is recommended for use in children from 1 year of age.
The ability to influence the reaction rate when driving vehicles or working with other mechanisms is unknown.
Interactions
