Extraterm is a combined drug that has an expectorant, antitussive, and anti-inflammatory effect.

Thermopsis increases the secretion of bronchial glands. Alkaloids (cytisine, methylcytisine, pachycarpine, anagirine, thermopsin and thermopsidin) contained in thermopsis have a stimulating effect on the respiratory center.

Sodium benzoate and ammonium chloride have an expectorant effect, helping to remove mucus from the respiratory tract when coughing.

Sodium bicarbonate stimulates the secretion of bronchial glands, helping to reduce the viscosity of sputum.

Respiratory tract diseases accompanied by cough (especially with difficulty in expectorating sputum): tracheitis, bronchitis, bronchopneumonia.

Adults and children over 12 years of age are prescribed 1 tablet orally 3-4 times a day. Before use, it is advisable to dissolve the tablet in ¼ cup of warm water or drink it with the same amount of water. The duration of treatment depends on the course of the disease, the achieved effect and is an average of 7-14 days. If necessary, after consulting a doctor, the course of treatment can be extended.

Children aged 6-12 years are prescribed ½-1 tablet orally 2-3 times a day, having previously dissolved it in ¼ cup of warm water.

Increased individual sensitivity to the components of the drug. acute glomerulonephritis, acute pyelonephritis; gastric and duodenal ulcer, hemoptysis. children’s age up to 6 years.

Allergic reactions: skin rash, itching, urticaria.

Gastrointestinal: nausea, gastritis, vomiting, diarrhea.

To improve liquefaction and expectoration of sputum, it is recommended to drink plenty of fluids.

Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. The drug should only be used if the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus or child.

Children: This medicine should not be used in children under 6 years of age.

Ability to influence the reaction rate when driving vehicles or operating machinery. The drug does not affect the ability to drive vehicles and operate machinery.

Adsorbents, astringents and enveloping agents can reduce the absorption of alkaloids of the herb Thermopsis in the gastrointestinal tract. Cough tablets should not be used simultaneously with drugs containing codeine and with other drugs that suppress cough.

Nausea, vomiting, weakness, diarrhea, dizziness, cold sweat, pallor, cyanosis of the mucous membranes; in severe poisoning, impaired consciousness, agitation, hallucinations, and convulsions are possible.

Treatment: gastric lavage, saline laxatives, activated charcoal, symptomatic therapy.
