Vaginal suppositories “Synthomycin” are used for the following indications:
- bacterial gynecological infections (vaginitis, cervicitis) caused by microorganisms sensitive to synthomycin;
- for the prevention of purulent-inflammatory diseases in gynecology;
- before invasive procedures: abortions, gynecological surgeries (cervical diathermy, hysterography), before and after the installation of an intrauterine device.
Composition
The active substance is chloramphenicol (1 suppository contains 250 mg of synthomycin).
The excipient is solid fat.
Contraindication
- hypersensitivity to the components of the drug;
- allergy and toxic reaction (dyspepsia, dysbacteriosis, mental disorders) to chloramphenicol in history;
- psoriasis;
- eczema;
- fungal diseases of the vagina;
- suppression of bone marrow hematopoiesis.
Method of application
Apply to adult women.
Having previously freed the suppository from the contour shell, insert it as deeply as possible into the vagina. The patient should lie on her back.
Apply one suppository 2-3 times a day.
The maximum daily dose is 4 suppositories. The course of treatment is 5-7 days.
Application features
Pregnant women
Do not use the drug during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Children
Do not use the medicine on children.
Drivers
No tests have been conducted to study the effect of suppositories on the ability to drive vehicles and other mechanisms.
Overdose
Symptoms: possible increase in side effects of the drug.
Treatment is symptomatic.
Side effects
From the side of the hematopoietic system: leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, reticulocytopenia, decreased hemoglobin level in the blood.
On the part of the immune system: allergic reactions, including: angioedema, other signs of irritation not observed before treatment, skin rash, itching, burning, hyperemia, edema.
Gastrointestinal: dyspeptic symptoms (nausea, vomiting, loose stools).
In these cases, the use of the drug should be discontinued.
Storage conditions
Store in the original packaging at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C, out of the reach of children.
Shelf life – 2 years.
