Release form.

Lotion.

Pharmacotherapeutic group.

Topical acne treatments. ATC code D10A E01.

Pharmacological properties.

Pharmacodynamics. Benzoyl peroxide has antiseptic and keratolytic properties, inhibits (as a result of oxygen release) the development of anaerobic microorganisms Propiobacterium in acne, promotes pore cleansing.

Pharmacokinetics. The drug penetrates the skin, where it is metabolized, turning into benzoic acid. Excreted in the urine in the form of benzoic acid. Approximately 5% is excreted in the urine unchanged.

Indication.

The drug is used for the local treatment and prevention of acne (Acne vulgaris) in adults and adolescents.

APPLICATION.

Apply a thin layer of the drug to washed and dried skin affected by acne, gently rub with your fingertips until completely absorbed. Start using it once a day, then, if necessary, 2-3 times a day. The optimal therapeutic effect usually develops within 8-12 weeks from the start of use. For preventive purposes, it is recommended to continue using the lotion to obtain a stable remission. The course of treatment should not exceed three months. The drug should not be used by the elderly. In severe cases, the use of Ugresol is combined with other means for the treatment of acne. Shake the bottle several times before use.

Side effect.

The product may cause irritation, accompanied by redness, peeling or swelling of the skin, causing a feeling of warmth, burning and itching. Minor irritation can be relieved by reducing the frequency of use of the product (1 time per day or every other day). In case of severe irritation, you should stop using the lotion.

Contraindication.

Individual sensitivity to benzoyl peroxide.

Overdose.

Overdose symptoms: excessive hyperemia, dryness, burning, itching, peeling or swelling of the skin. It is recommended to wipe the skin with a gauze or cotton swab moistened with vegetable oil. These symptoms require medical intervention only if they do not go away for a long time and cause concern. Sometimes it is necessary to use creams or ointments containing glucocorticosteroids.

Features of use. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. The drug can discolor hair, eyebrows and colored fabrics. To prevent a hypersensitivity reaction, it is recommended to test the solution on a small area of skin on the wrist. If swelling or itching with severe hyperemia appears in this area within 48 hours, Ugresol is not recommended. The appearance of peeling and redness of the skin leads to a period of apparent deterioration during the first weeks of treatment. After consulting a doctor, it can be used during pregnancy and lactation.

Interaction with other drugs. Simultaneous use of Ugresol with other acne treatment drugs containing resorcinol, salicylic acid, sulfur, tretinoin, as well as drugs containing alcohol, aftershave lotions, shaving creams and lotions, medical cosmetics, abrasive and medical soaps, facial cleansers can cause cumulative irritation and the effect of increased skin dryness. The combination of Ugresol with other drugs is carried out only on prescription.
